Before you begin using the network connection, you will need to install Netgear WPN824 router. To use WPN824 router, simply enable your computer’s wireless adapter, open your internet browser and connect to the internet. Follow the given steps to use Netgear WPN824 router.

Step1: First, connect your computer directly to your modem to verify your internet connection. After the verification, disconnect your computer from the modem.

Step2: Connect your router with your modem by connecting your Ethernet cable into the internet port on the back of your router. And also connect an Ethernet cable between the computer and one of the four LAN ports on the WPN824.

Step3: Turn on your wireless internet adapter in your computer and check the local wireless signals to verify the WPN824 is broadcasting.

Step4: Open your browser and type "192.168.1.1." into the address bar of your web browser.

Step5: When "Enter Network Password" page opens up, enter "Admin" and "Password,” in the "User Name" and "Password" fields.

Step6: Click "Wireless Settings" from the left menu.

Step7: You can change the “Name (SSID)” to the wireless name of your choice .Click on a wireless security type under security option.

Step8: Enter the wireless security key and then click “Apply”.

Netgear is a popular manufacturer of wireless routers; it is used to create a network for your home or office. A router can also be used for a wireless connection if you need to connect to the Internet with a laptop computer. In order to use a Netgear router, such as the MPN824, it will need to be connected to your main desktop computer with the proper software installed.

Step1: Plug in the power cord into the power jack on the back of the router and Plug the other end of the power cable into the wall outlet.

Step2:  Unplug the ethernet cable from your cable or DSL modem. Plug the ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the router.

Step3: Plug one end of the ethernet cable into a "LAN" port on the back of the router. Plug the other end of the cable into the ethernet port on the computer.

Step4: Insert the installation CD into the CD/DVD drive and wait for the setup screen to appear. Click the "Setup" button and then follow the instructions on the screen to install the software. Choose a name for your network and select a password that consists of letters and numbers.

Step5: Press the "Power" button on the front of the router to turn it on. Observe the lights on the front of the router for a proper connection. The Internet port should light up, along with a LAN port and the light for wireless.
