How to Set Up a Wireless Router as a Switch

How to Set Up a Wireless Router as a Switch
Using wireless switch you can share a single Internet connection with multiple computers in your home or workspace. To set up a wireless router as a switch follow the given steps.
To secure your wireless router ,follow this blog-How to Secure Your Wireless Router

Step1:  Connect your computer to the router using Ethernet cable.

Step2: Open a web browser and type "192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press Enter. It will open the login page.

Step3: When login page will open, login using username and password. By default, many routers will use “admin” for both the username and password. But again, you must refer to your wireless router support manual. It can vary depending on your router brand.

Step4: Set the IP address of the router and should not conflict with the main router on the network.

Step5:  Turn off the DHCP hosting server. This hosting server allows the hub to determine IP details to the computer systems linked with it.

Step6: Locate the configurations for the DNS hosting server. This hosting server should be converted off as well. It is used to convert IP details into the more acquainted “www” details that are used to go to a Website.

Step7: Turn off any firewall application from your router setting(see:How to disable the Netgear firewall).

Step8: Change the mode of your router if your router has an “Operating Mode” setting.

Step9: Remove any slot sending records that may have been used for games, peer-to-peer application or other programs.

Step10: Configure the wireless portion of your router to function as an access point if this setting is available.

Step11: Save all the changes and restart the router to complete the procedure. Now this router will work as a switch.
