Step1: Connect all of your devices. Your netgear router should be connected.one Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer and a second Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer's modem.
Step2: Find the reset button on the rear of your Netgear router. The reset button is a small inset button and requires a pointed object to reach it. Use a fine-tipped pen to hold the button down for at least 10 seconds. The test light should flash during this process.
Step3: After completing the above steps, open your Internet browser and enter the Netgear router's IP address into the address bar to access the router's information. Generally, Netgear routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1.
Step4: Attempt to log in to the router with the default username and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password." If the router's username and password were not cleared away, unplug the router and try holding down the reset button. While you are holding down the reset button, plug the router back in.
Step5: Now log in to the router using the default "admin" username and "password" as the password. You can now reset your information, rename your router and enter your own username and password.
